It is a common misconception about Freemasonry, just one of many, that you must be invited to join. There are, in fact, two ways to apply to join Friars – by a direct request to the Lodge Secretary (see Contacts) and introduction by a Member. Both routes are equally valid.
On application or invitation, either the Secretary or your Proposer will make themselves available to you to explain Freemasonry in general and the Friars’ Lodge in particular and to answer any questions that you may have. You will be asked to meet with a small group of senior members of the Lodge who will then make their recommendation concerning your application to the Lodge Committee and to the membership at a regular Lodge meeting.
